(HISPANIC TIMES BUSINESS) - Rhonda Abrams, president of The Planning Shop and publisher of Books for Entrepreneurs, wrote an article in USAToday about not writing off the Hispanic market. It was a simple but straight to the point article on the importance of considering the American Hispanic consumer and businessowner as a way to grow one's business.
She made a great point about how her books have been translated into multiple languages, but never had she considered appealing to the second most used language right here in the United States.....Spanish.
She said, "Although my books have been translated into more than 30 languages worldwide, I've never had them translated into Spanish for the American Hispanic market."
How many millions of others have been making the same mistake? I am sure that quite a few are aware of the Hispanic market but the hot button issues such as "immigration" are just too much for them to overcome thus turn away from a lucrative market that has made many who have catered to it, millionaires.
As a business owner or corporation looking to position your products and/or services before as many potential customers as possible, the Hispanic American demographic is a no brainer. It does not take a genius to figure out that the math adds up in the favor of those who outreach to the largest minority group in the United States.
As the author blatantly puts it, "it's dumb to write off 1 in 6 people without even thinking about it. And that number is growing and will keep growing regardless of the immigration policies we adopt. By 2050, it is projected that Hispanics will be 30% of America's population."
Hispanics' median age is 27, compared to a median age of 41 for non-Hispanic whites and Hispanic-owned businesses represent hundreds of billions in gross revenues.
So take heed regarding the Hispanic consumer and business-owner. It does not require a rocket science degree to figure out that it is smart business to market to Hispanic Americans.
Anything else is just plain dumb.
